This is the Claude tutorial for entrepreneurs I wish I had when I started using AI in my business: no theory, just how to set it up and what to actually use it for as a solo founder. Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic that can write, analyze documents, research, code and build small interactive tools from a simple conversation. You can use it on the web, on desktop and on your phone.
One rule before we start: features and plans change fast. Everything below is what Claude offers as I write this, but check the current plans on Claude’s site before you decide what to pay for. Some features are only available on paid plans.
What is Claude and why should entrepreneurs use it?
Claude is a general AI assistant you talk to in plain language. For an entrepreneur, it works like a tireless operator: it drafts, reviews, organizes and builds while you focus on selling and delivering.
The real value is not “AI writes my posts”. It’s that one person can now run workflows that used to need a small team. That’s leverage. But leverage multiplies what you put in. If you put in nothing, you get nothing.
Step 1: Set up your account the right way
- Create your account on Claude’s website or app.
- Go to settings and fill in your profile preferences: who you are, what your business does, how you like answers (short, direct, in your language).
- Check if memory is available on your plan and turn it on if you want Claude to remember context across conversations.
- Install the mobile app so you can capture ideas and voice notes on the go.
Step 2: Use Projects as your business brain
Projects are workspaces where you upload files and set custom instructions that apply to every chat inside them. This is the single most useful feature for a founder.
Create one project per area of your business:
- Brand and content: upload your bio, your offer, your tone of voice, examples of posts that worked. Instruction: “Write like me. Direct, short sentences.”
- Sales: upload your services, prices, FAQs and objections. Use it to draft proposals and follow-ups.
- Operations: upload your processes and checklists. Use it to write SOPs and onboarding docs.
Every chat inside the project starts already knowing your business. No more pasting the same context 50 times.
Step 3: Upload files and let Claude analyze them
You can upload documents such as PDFs, spreadsheets, text files and images, and ask questions about them.
- Upload a contract and ask for the risky clauses in plain language (then confirm with a professional).
- Upload a sales export and ask what patterns stand out.
- Upload a screenshot of your landing page and ask for conversion feedback.
- Upload a long PDF report and ask for the five points that matter for your niche.
Step 4: Use Artifacts to build things, not just text
Artifacts are standalone outputs Claude creates in a side panel, like documents, code, simple web pages, diagrams or small interactive tools, that you can edit, reuse and share.
Practical uses for a solo founder:
- A pricing calculator for your services.
- A one-page lead magnet or checklist.
- A simple dashboard mock-up to explain an idea to a client.
- A content calendar you can keep iterating.
Step 5: Research with web search
Claude can search the web and cite sources, which is useful for market research, competitor checks and keeping up with your industry. Depending on your plan, there’s also a deeper Research mode that runs longer, multi-source investigations.
Honest limit: always open the sources. AI can misread or overgeneralize. You own the final decision.
Step 6: Connect your tools
Connectors let Claude access apps you already use, like Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar, so it can find a document, summarize email threads or check your schedule. There are also connectors for other services; check the current directory inside Claude.
Start with read-only tasks: “summarize the unread emails from clients this week”. Give it more responsibility once you trust the workflow.
Step 7: Go further with Claude Code
Claude Code is Anthropic’s agentic coding tool. It can read and edit files, run commands and build software with you. If you’re not technical, this sounds scary. It’s not as scary as it sounds, but it is a learning curve. Use it for internal tools, website tweaks and automations once you’re comfortable with the basics.
Claude tutorial for entrepreneurs: 7 daily use cases
The best way to use Claude as an entrepreneur is to hand it the repeatable thinking work, then review and ship fast.
- Content: turn one idea into a post, a script and an email.
- Offers: stress-test your offer: “Act as my ideal client. Why wouldn’t you buy?”
- Sales: draft proposals and follow-ups from your project’s pricing file.
- Customer service: write FAQ answers and templates.
- Planning: turn a messy brain dump into a weekly plan.
- Learning: ask it to teach you a skill step by step, with exercises.
- Systems: map a process and decide what to automate. My checklist of what to automate first pairs well with this.
Prompts that actually work
Good prompts give context, a goal, constraints and a format. Bad prompts are one vague line.
- Context: “I run a web design service for musicians.”
- Goal: “I need a follow-up email for a lead who went silent.”
- Constraints: “Under 100 words, no pressure tactics, my tone.”
- Format: “Give me three versions.”
Then iterate. The first answer is a draft, not the final product. Push it. Ask for sharper, shorter, more specific. Treat it like training: volume of iterations beats waiting for the perfect prompt.
What Claude can’t do for you
- It can’t replace your judgment, your relationships or your accountability.
- It can make mistakes, so verify facts, numbers and anything legal or financial.
- It won’t do the reps for you. You still have to sell, ship and show up.
If you want AI to also scale your presence on camera, I wrote about building a personal brand with an AI digital clone.
AI gives you time. Use it for your purpose.
Here’s the part nobody puts in a tutorial. AI frees hours. What you do with those hours defines you. If you use them to scroll, you wasted the leverage. If you use them to sharpen a skill that helps other people, you multiplied your impact. I believe a skill that serves others is what keeps us alive and moving at any age; it’s the core of the importance of having a purpose.
Open Claude today. Create one project. Upload your offer. Ship one thing before tonight. And if you want the next level, AI systems that answer your clients and work while you sleep, that’s what I build. Start on my site.
